Courtney Johnson Look Funny Not a Fool (detail)
In fantasy we find a world in alteration, different from a normal waking beta-wave state. A plasticity where rigidness would typically exist, and a soft, brightly marbleized liquid for its life blood. The fictionalizing belongs to the lack of realness that surrounds us everyday, a comedy that reveals itself in the face of malfunction. A place where definition loses all its power and the reins are given to free play.

Courtney Johnson presents Lion Lair, a solo exhibition of new painting and sculpture.

Courtney Johnson received an MFA from California College for the Arts, San Francisco (2011).
